Financial help to attend the ISA 2010 congress


We inform RC33 session chairs and paper presenters at the XVII ISA World Congress of Sociology, 11-17 July 2010, Gothenburg, Sweden that ISA if offering some financial help to attend the congress. The RC33 is entitled to allocate:

a) Travel/accommodation grants for a total of Euro 735. These are for individual members of the ISA in good standing coming from the developing countries (category B or C) and who play an active role in the Congress programme either as a session chair/organizer or a paper giver.

b) Registration grants. Each RC/WG/TG may recommend candidates for registration grants as follows: the maximum total amount will not exceed the cost of early registration fees for one category A ISA Regular member (275 euro) or two category B ISA regular members( 2x130=260 euro) or three category C ISA regular members (3x85=285 euro). If students (or any other membership category with discounted fee) are recommended, the same ratio 1:2:3 applies - that is no more than one category A member may be recommended and no more than 2 category B members. In that case, the maximum amount to be allocated will be 285 euro.

Therefore, please apply for travel/accommodation grant or/and registration grant, if you qualify and you need it. Please, send the application (short bio, employment status, planned costs) to the RC33 secretary Katja Lozar Manfreda (katja.lozar(at) by Monday, March 22. The RC33 board will select participant(s) to receive the grant by the ISA. As the funds are very limited, we will give priority to students presenting the paper at the congress.
